MANOEUVRE is a collective of designers making things by hand the old-fashioned way; each manoeuvre item is designed, constructed, and sewn by hand in California.

Katherine Benck started manoeuvre in 2006 as a collection of small-time, handmade, unique designs. Inspired by the boys around her that prefer skinny ties over fat ones, she began to create ties for the kids who grew up under the fashionable influence of Reservoir Dogs. MANOEUVRE quickly expanded to include more of her product design - wool often being the fabric of choice, used for its high quality, texture, and look.
Kate holds a degree in the History of Art from the University of California at Berkeley. She now lives and works in the city of San Francisco, but she still goes back across the Bay to get her hair cut. Designing things is all good and fun for now, but by the end of 2008, she'll probably be across the Atlantic cutting butter into flour, walking a medium-sized chien, and perfecting her pointe. She's always crossing waters and learning how to be less ironic.

Shopping & Shipping

At this time, manoeuvre cannot accept returns or exchanges (unless there was packing error), and so before you purchase an item please be sure you will be bringing it into a loving home. Feel free to email Kate with all your burning questions before making a purchase.

Payment: All sales are done via PayPal.

Sales Tax: If you live in California, a sales tax of 8.25% will be applied the total (not including shipping).

Shipping: All orders (up to $200) ship via USPS Priority Mail and shipping is only $5! (Standard shipping & within the United States and Canada is $5, that is.) If you live outside the US or Canada, place an order as usual and a separate PayPal invoice will follow with additional shipping charges.
Bulk orders will incur separate shipping costs. Please inquire about an estimate when ordering.

Receipt: Your order will ship within two working days of receipt and it should arrive on your doorstep within 3-5 days (excluding Sundays). If you need it sooner, email Kate and we'll make arrangements (and add shipping charges).

This site is designed and maintained by Kate. Most of the photography, images, and graphics are by Kate. (A good amount of the photography is by Max Victor Stein.) She uses TextMate, Coda, and Adobe Photoshop CS3 on a MacBook Pro. Kate loves taking photographs; she will do yours for free. She hates web design; this magic can be worked for the right price.
